About the opportunity

At UL Solutions, our Renewables Advisory team helps developers, investors, lenders, and asset owners successfully develop, finance, and operate renewable energy projects worldwide. Our experts support utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects throughout the project lifecycle, providing independent technical advisory services that help clients reduce risk, improve performance, and make informed investment decisions. We are looking for an experienced Wind Energy Consultant to join our growing Renewables Advisory team in Brazil. In this role, you will perform wind resource assessments, energy yield analysis, wind farm optimization, and technical due diligence activities for renewable energy projects across Latin America. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support clients in designing high-performing, bankable wind energy projects. This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, with employees expected to work from the São Paulo office three days per week and remotely two days per week. Some domestic and international travel may be required to support project execution, site visits, client meetings, and industry events.

Responsibilities

  1. Technical Responsibilities
  2. Perform wind resource assessments and energy yield analysis
  3. Analyze met mast, LiDAR and SoDAR data
  4. Conduct long-term wind resource corrections
  5. Perform wake effect and wind flow modeling
  6. Execute wind farm micrositing and layout optimization
  7. Calculate uncertainty and energy losses
  8. Conduct IEC 61400-1 site classifications
  9. Support technical due diligence activities
  10. Review third-party reports and analyses
  11. Prepare technical reports in English
  12. Support wind measurement campaigns and site verification activities
  13. Commercial / Client Facing Responsibilities
  14. Participate in client meetings
  15. Support business development discussions
  16. Collaborate with sales teams on opportunities
  17. Attend industry conferences and events
  18. Support prospecting activities in Latin America

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in

  1. Engineering
  2. Atmospheric Sciences
  3. Physics
  4. Related discipline
  5. Experience

Minimum 3+ years of experience in

  1. Wind resource assessment
  2. Energy yield analysis
  3. Wind project development consulting
  4. Technical Knowledge
  5. Candidates must have hands-on experience working with wind assessment methodologies and industry-standard software.

  2. Windographer
  3. WAsP
  4. WindPRO
  5. Important: This is not considered an entry-level position. Candidates should already understand wind resource assessment methodologies and have practical experience performing this type of analysis.
  6. Language
  7. English proficiency sufficient for technical reports and client communication
  8. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
  9. Offshore wind experience
  10. Python programming
  11. Existing network within the Brazilian wind energy market
  12. Existing relationships with wind developers and investors
  13. Commercial/business development exposure
  14. Experience presenting to clients
