A technically oriented study program at the Leibniz University of Applied Sciences in Hanover leibniz-fh.de/studiengaenge/it-security/, which shows you how digital systems work and how to protect them. The program is divided into three phases:
- Fundamentals: You will receive technical and mathematical foundations (including: programming (C++), algorithms, databases, networks, and operating systems). This also includes an introduction to project management.
- 2nd academic year, IT Security in Focus: You will learn how attacks work and how to defend against them, with insights into cloud computing, AI, and data analytics (including: cryptology, IT security fundamentals, and managing IT risks).
- 3rd academic year, Specialization and Practice: IT Governance, Forensics, and IT Law. You will choose a specialization, either System Technology (cryptanalysis, mobile software development) or Security Management (social engineering, IT process management).
WHAT AWAITS YOU WITH US
As an IT Security Specialist, you will protect systems, identify vulnerabilities, and ensure that sensitive data remains secure. You will shape your work flexibly and independently, with a focus on technical IT areas:
- IT Security & IT Governance: The team is responsible for monitoring and protecting our systems and customer data (including risk analysis, security measures, regulatory compliance).
- IT Infrastructure & Network: We ensure a reliable and secure foundation (including network security, server operations, cloud).
- Data Analysis & AI: Suspicious behavior and irregularities are identified and countered early on (including: data evaluation, pattern recognition, anomaly detection).
You will start on August 1st and alternate regularly between practical phases with us and theoretical blocks at the university.
- Trainee Project: You will actively advance your own topics within the company during your studies and gain initial experience in project management.
- In-house Seminars: Targeted seminars will support you in successfully completing your studies.
- Flexible and independent work scheduling – all business areas are open to you.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- You have at least a university entrance qualification for applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife).
- Your last two report cards show an average grade of at least 2,33.
- You have very good German language skills, both written and spoken (C1 level).
- You particularly enjoyed math or computer science in school.
- No specific prior IT knowledge is necessary. Programming, networks, and security concepts will be built from the ground up.
- You are eager to learn about new technologies and want to develop further in this field.
- You approach tasks with motivation, reliability, and independence – your team can count on you.
