Title: ENGINEERING INTERN

Department: Water & Wastewater

Reports To: Project Manager

Education: Working toward a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

Experience: Entry level position

Duties

  1. Assist the Project Manager in all phases of project design and project development
  2. Prepare various components design calculations with oversight
  3. Prepare various components of quantity calculations with oversight
  4. Prepare various components of cost estimates with oversight
  5. Prepare various components of plans with oversight
  6. Work and coordinate with other internal departments
  7. Assist in assembling Supplements, Proposals, and Engineer’s Reports
  8. Meet deadlines
  9. Alert Department Manager immediately upon realization of a problem on a project
  10. Prepare Cost Estimates
  11. Prepare various components of water and wastewater plans, specifications, and studies
  12. Review Quantities
  13. Assist with various phases of planning, design, and construction phases of projects
  14. Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding our clients and company practices
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

  1. Successful completion of environmental, hydraulics, water, and wastewater, etc. coursework, preferred
  2. Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  3. Possess strong communication skills
  4. Possess strong interpersonal skills
  5. Possess excellent organizational skills
  6. Able to work within a “team” concept
  7. Proficient with a computer and Microsoft Excel and Word and working knowledge of AutoCAD
  8. Must be able to attend evening meetings with clients as needed
  9. Must be able to prepare permit applications
  10. Must represent the firm professionally in public
  11. Detail oriented

Requirements

Physical Requirements

  1. Able to work seated for 9 or more hours per workday
  2. Able to work 40 or more hours per work week, as needed
  3. Able to work outdoors traversing uneven or difficult terrain
  4. Able to travel throughout Indiana including overnight stays

Other Requirements

  1. Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license
  2. Agree to abide by the personnel policies identified in the Company Policy
