About

Salesforce Solution Engineer

Thunder is a Salesforce-native systems integrator backed by Salesforce Ventures. We help growing companies design, build, and run Salesforce so it actually moves their business.

As our Solution Engineer, you are the technical lead in every pursuit. You partner with Client Directors and Salesforce AEs to turn a prospect's business problem into a credible solution, a scoped estimate, and a demo that wins the deal. You are the bridge between what we sell and what Delivery builds, so the promises we make are ones we can keep.

Why Thunder? Because You Deserve More Than Just a Job.

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED

Location: Remote, United States (US - Central / Eastern Time Preferred; Chicago, IL preferred)

  1. Technical win rate on pursuits you support
  1. Bookings influenced and sourced alongside Client Directors
  1. Estimate accuracy: delivered margin versus scoped margin on closed projects
  1. Satisfaction scores from Client Directors, Delivery, and Salesforce partners

U.S. citizens and those authorized to work in the US are encouraged to apply.

Role + Responsibilities

  1. Run discovery. Lead technical discovery with business and IT stakeholders to map current-state processes, data, integrations, and pain points.
  1. Design the solution. Shape solution architecture across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, Agentforce, and MuleSoft, and know when not to recommend something.
  1. Build demos that win. Configure tailored demos and proofs of concept in Salesforce orgs that speak to the client's own data and workflows.
  1. Scope and estimate. Own level-of-effort estimates, assumptions, and risks; draft SOWs and solution sections of proposals and RFP responses with Delivery.
  1. Partner with Salesforce. Work alongside Salesforce AEs and SEs on joint pursuits, and earn a reputation as their go-to partner technical resource.
  1. Hand off cleanly. Transfer context to Delivery at close so projects start with clear scope, architecture, and expectations.
  1. Sharpen the playbook. Build reusable demo assets, estimation templates, and solution accelerators; give product and positioning feedback to leadership.

Required Qualifications

  1. 5+ years in the Salesforce ecosystem, including 2+ years in a pre-sales, solution engineering, or solution architect role at a consultancy or Salesforce
  1. Hands-on configuration skills across Sales Cloud and Service Cloud; working knowledge of Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, and Agentforce
  1. Track record of scoping and estimating fixed-fee and time-and-materials projects that delivered on margin
  1. Ability to run a room: crisp discovery with executives, deep dives with admins and architects, and demos that tell a business story
  1. Strong writing for proposals, SOWs, and solution designs
  1. Salesforce Certifications: Administrator plus at least two of Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, or an Architect credential
