As a Business Data Architect (m/f/d) – Master Data Management, you will have overall structural responsibility for the business architecture of our master data management. In this role, you will define the global master data model, specify requirements for necessary validations and workflows, and ensure that we build sustainable, harmonized data structures across system boundaries.
The role can be filled remotely in Germany with occasional visits to the headquarters in Hamburg (approximately 1x per month in the first year, then less frequently).
YOUR MISSION WITH US
- You will have overarching ownership of the master data model and attribute logic across all relevant domains. You will define field attributes, mandatory fields, and validation rules.
- Together with the business units and IT, you will define the respective leading system (SOR) for master data objects, document the data flows along the business processes, and specify requirements for synchronization logic, replication rules, and error handling in close coordination with the integration teams.
- You will take responsibility for the handover points at all MDM-relevant business interfaces between systems such as SAP, PIM, CRM, WMS, PLM, and other systems. In doing so, you will reduce complexity, actively drive the reduction of technical workarounds, and support data migrations from extraction to validation.
- You will conceptualize and document end-to-end master data processes. You will define the workflows for creating, enriching, approving, and distributing data and specifically close process gaps for all domains (product, supplier, customer, finance, logistics).
- You will define data quality rules across systems, monitor MDM key performance indicators (KPIs), and drive continuous improvement processes.
YOUR EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- You have at least 6 years of sound professional experience in business data architecture, MDM, or SAP master data management, and have demonstrably modeled master data structures in large transformation projects.
- You possess in-depth knowledge of SAP master data (material, business partner, pricing, BOM, etc.) and are absolutely familiar with PIM and PLM systems. A clear understanding of CRM, WMS, and e-commerce landscapes and the management of distributed data structures rounds off your profile.
- You are characterized by a highly analytical and structured way of thinking and have the ability to translate complex technical issues into understandable terms for business stakeholders.
- You work independently and with a focus on quality. You convince as a team player and speak fluent German and English.
- Ideally, you have a good understanding of the FMCG, food, dietary supplement, or retail industries.
