The PMO Squad
IT Project Manager – Network Infrastructure
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Our client, an established managed IT services provider headquartered in the south Chicago suburbs, is hiring a full-time Project Manager to join its PMO. You'll independently lead a high volume of customer and internal projects at the same time. The work centers on network infrastructure buildouts, server and Azure cloud migrations, and Microsoft 365 deployments. This role suits a confident, client-facing PM who can keep 20–30+ projects moving at once without losing control of scope, budget, or quality.
You bring energy and confidence to a fast-paced, high-volume environment, and you're at your best when many projects are moving at once. You present comfortably to executives and build trust quickly with customers and technical teams. You operate independently while following established standards and governance. You balance empathy with decisiveness: you make the call, bring the right sense of urgency, and solve problems before they escalate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a portfolio of 20–30+ concurrent projects from intake through closeout, owning scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholder decisions.
- Manage on-site network infrastructure buildouts, including network closets, rack space, Wi-Fi, Ethernet cabling, and firewall hardware. You'll coordinate technicians, vendors, and customer site contacts.
- Run server upgrade and cloud migration projects, from physical server refreshes to migrations into Microsoft Azure.
- Deliver Microsoft 365 projects, including tenant migrations, Entra ID (Active Directory) migrations, Intune device management, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) rollouts.
- Apply the right delivery approach (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) for each project, within the PMO's established standards and governance.
- Develop and maintain project documentation: scopes, project plans, change requests, and closing reports.
- Lead status meetings and stakeholder updates up to the C-level. This includes difficult conversations about scope, budget, or timeline tradeoffs.
- Negotiate scope, timelines, and resources with stakeholders, and know when to decide independently versus escalate.
- Track risks, issues, and budgets, define clear acceptance criteria, and validate deliverables with stakeholders at key checkpoints.
- Coordinate internal and external resources, remove blockers, and hold teams accountable to deadlines and quality standards.
- Contribute to PMO initiatives, including process improvement, training, and knowledge sharing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years independently leading IT projects, with a primary focus on network infrastructure. Leading means owning the work, not only coordinating or supporting it.
- Client-facing project delivery experience, such as at a managed service provider (MSP) or IT consulting firm, managing 20+ concurrent projects.
- Hands-on project experience in one or more of these areas: network infrastructure buildouts, server upgrades and Azure migrations, or Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and MFA deployments.
- A verifiable track record of leading projects end to end while owning scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholder decisions.
- Executive presence: you can confidently present, facilitate, and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels, including the C-suite. You're also willing to push back and hold a line when needed.
- Strong communication skills. You can explain technical detail to technical audiences and write clearly for non-technical ones.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and note-taking or journaling tools.
- A bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Able to work onsite full-time at the Tinley Park, IL headquarters, and available for project escalations outside business hours as needed.
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- MSP experience delivering projects to end-customer organizations.
- Experience with Microsoft GCC High (Government Community Cloud High) environments.
- Project exposure in cybersecurity, process automation, data migration, or AI implementation.
- PMI certifications (PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, CAPM, or similar), or Agile, Scrum, or Six Sigma certifications.
- IT certifications such as ITIL or CompTIA.
- Public-speaking experience (Toastmasters or equivalent).
TOOLS & ENVIRONMENT
- Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, and Teams.
- Microsoft Azure.
- Network hardware: firewalls, switching, and wireless infrastructure.
- Microsoft Office Suite, plus note-taking and journaling software.
