IT Solution Architect / IT Inhouse Consultant – Microsoft (m/f/d)
About the opportunity
For a company with over 14,000 employees and more than 1,000 locations in five countries – headquarters in the eastern Ruhr area – I am looking for the first dedicated architecture role in the IT Systems team. The architectural responsibility was previously with the management level – now it gets its own face: yours. You will become the link between the business department and implementation. The environment is moving towards Cloud First: Azure and Microsoft 365 are the focus, and you will help decide what moves there and when. You are less of a draftsman at the drawing board here and more of a structural engineer on the construction site – your concepts must hold, and you will also get your hands dirty.
IMPORTANT: 100% Remote after a 3-6 month onboarding in Unna!
Sound like you? Then apply now!
In a first conversation, I look forward to telling you more about the company & the role, and also learning more about you.
Your Responsibilities
- Solutions from A to Z: You will gather business requirements, develop solution concepts together with the team, and accompany them into stable operation.
- Shape Cloud First: You will be a key player in further developing Azure, M365, and the hybrid identity – and you will think about which path is realistic to get there.
- Weighing Options: You will examine solution approaches with regard to security, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and operational capability, and document decisions comprehensibly.
- Implement and Pass On: You will help build new topics from the ground up, rather than just conceptualizing them, and bring the six-person team along with you.
Your Profile
- Microsoft Cloud in Everyday Life: You have been working with Azure and M365 for several years – Identity, Collaboration, Endpoint – and have already supported migrations from on-premises environments.
- Breadth Instead of Silos: You have expertise in several areas – infrastructure, network, IT security, IAM, Modern Workplace, or location-based IT. No one knows everything, and onboarding time is planned for the rest.
- Pragmatic Instead of Dogmatic: You consider viable interim steps rather than focusing solely on the end goal, and you drive new topics forward, even if you are the first to tackle them.
- Strong Communicator: You translate between technology and business, gain stakeholders without direct authority, and enjoy working agilely – SAFe experience is welcome, but not a requirement.
- Language Requirements: You have fluent German and good English skills; even though German is primarily spoken today, English will become increasingly important for the company's growth.
What Awaits You
- Freedom to Shape: A newly created position: You will establish the architecture level and shape standards from the beginning – your direct team has six members, and IT as a whole has around 75 employees.
- Breadth of Topics: From Identity and Modern Workplace to Network and Security, and location-based IT – the scope is intentionally broad, and you will familiarize yourself with new fields.
- The Next Career Step: From Senior Engineer to the first architecture role on your resume – with the backing of IT management and training in coordination with your supervisor.
- Conditions & Benefits: Fair compensation package, 30 days of vacation (Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve: half working days), company pension plan and capital-forming benefits, subsidized company restaurant, 15% employee discount, and free parking.
- Remote Work & Onboarding: Ideally, you are open to a hybrid role (2-3 days/week in Unna); if not, up to 100% remote from Germany is possible. However, the onboarding (3-6 months) would be set on-site in Unna.
