Mid-Level Java Developer
We are looking for a professional with a solid technical foundation in Java, analytical vision, and critical thinking. Here, development is spec-driven and enhanced by AI assistants: code is only part of the delivery. Requirements
Main Responsibilities
- Analyze technical requirements and business rules, transforming them into clear, verifiable, and testable specifications that guide both the team and AI assistants.
- Lead development with the support of AI assistants, defining context, scope, and acceptance criteria before code generation.
- Critically review AI-generated code, evaluating its correctness, security, performance, readability, and adherence to architecture and business rules.
- Develop, evolve, and maintain backend applications in Java, using Spring and JPA.
- Develop frontend interfaces with JavaScript frameworks for SPAs, ensuring integration with backend services.
- Create SQL queries, manipulate data, and contribute to the maintenance and performance of relational databases.
- Write automated tests that validate specifications, using them as the primary mechanism to ensure the reliability of the generated code.
- Investigate failures, identify root causes, and fix problems, avoiding solutions that simply work without understanding why.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Java development.
- Knowledge and practical experience with Spring and JPA.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with automated testing.
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks for SPAs.
- Experience with Git for version control and collaboration.
- Ability to write clear and objective specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Critical thinking to question, validate, and correct AI outputs, understanding what is being delivered and why.
- Good written communication, as the quality of the specification defines the quality of the result.
Preferred
- Previous experience with AI assistants in development (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, etc.) and practice with spec-driven development.
- Experience in an agile team.
- Knowledge of Docker, Vue.js, or Ruby on Rails.
- Experience with code reviews and defining quality standards.
