The Technical Product Manager supports the Product & Portfolio Management team by helping coordinate product development activities, translate market and customer requirements into actionable product inputs, and support execution across North America. This role serves as a technical and product-facing bridge between Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Business Development, Operations, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders.

The position supports development and maintenance of Product Standards groups aligned by vertical market, including transportation, medical, industrial, defense, and aerospace. These Product Standards groups are intended to improve consistency across product lines, support platform reuse, define common product expectations, identify capability gaps, and provide a structured forum for aligning customer needs, market requirements, compliance considerations, and product development priorities.

This role is intended to carry strong technical and product-development expectations while remaining cross-functional and product-facing. The position does not initially carry people-management responsibility; instead, it provides specialized product development coordination, requirements interpretation, standards organization, and execution support for portfolio activities, product readiness, and lifecycle planning.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: ­ ·

  1. Support Product Managers in developing, documenting, and executing product plans, product requirements, roadmap inputs, and lifecycle activities across assigned product lines. ·
  1. Assist in identifying market needs, customer requirements, product capability gaps, technical risks, and opportunities for improved portfolio positioning. ·
  1. Translate customer, market, and technical requirements into clear, actionable product inputs for Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Business Development, Operations, and Marketing. ·
  1. Develop, maintain, and improve Product Standards groups aligned by vertical market, including transportation, medical, industrial, defense, and aerospace. ·
  1. Coordinate Product Standards group activities, meeting inputs, action items, documentation, and follow-up actions to support consistent product expectations and decision-making across verticals. ·
  1. Define and maintain vertical-specific product standards, product architecture expectations, compliance considerations, capability matrices, gap lists, assumptions, and next-step actions. ·
  1. Support the use of standard product architectures, reusable platforms, modular design approaches, and consistent requirements across product lines where applicable. ·
  1. Support tracking, coordination, and review of product development schedules, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and risks for assigned initiatives. ·
  1. Coordinate with R&D, Product Management, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Business Development, and Supply Chain to maintain alignment between product plans, customer needs, and development deliverables. ·
  1. Support customer, partner, and internal stakeholder discussions by providing technically accurate product input, standards context, and development status information. ·
  1. Track relevant industry trends, certification requirements, regulatory considerations, customer expectations, and competitive activity impacting assigned vertical markets. ·
  1. Support product readiness reviews including documentation, validation alignment, launch preparation, sales enablement, product messaging, and internal stakeholder readiness. ·
  1. Support RFP, RFQ, proposal, and customer response activities by providing product development input, capability alignment, standards information, and technical positioning support. ·
  1. Support development of sales and marketing collateral by validating product messaging, claims, technical content, and vertical-specific positioning. ·
  1. Monitor customer feedback, product performance input, and market response to recommend product improvements, roadmap adjustments, or new development opportunities. ·
  1. Support product lifecycle management activities including new product introduction, sustaining improvements, obsolescence planning, feature enhancements, and end-of-life coordination. ·
  1. Build and maintain working relationships with internal stakeholders, product teams, engineering resources, sales teams, and external partners to improve product alignment and execution. ·
  1. Provide regular status updates to leadership regarding product development progress, open risks, standards group activity, resource needs, schedule concerns, and recommended actions. ·
  1. Drive continuous improvement in product development processes, documentation quality, requirements tracking, standards organization, and cross-functional communication practices.

Qualifications: ·

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Product Management, Business, or related technical field preferred. ·
  1. Experience working with embedded computing systems, hardware platforms, boards, modules, systems, or complex technical products preferred. ·
  1. Experience supporting product lifecycle, roadmap planning, product standards, product requirements, RFP/RFQ responses, customer discussions, launch readiness, or project coordination preferred. ·
  1. Familiarity with vertical market requirements for transportation, medical, industrial, defense, and aerospace applications preferred. ·

Minimum requirements

  1. 5–10 years of experience in product development, product management, systems engineering, embedded systems, hardware platforms, rugged computing, or related technical product environments. ·
  1. Ability to read and interpret customer requirements, product specifications, technical standards, compliance expectations, and market requirements and convert them into practical product inputs and action plans. ·
  1. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical and product concepts clearly to Product Management, Engineering, Sales, customers, and external stakeholders. ·
  1. Effective cross-functional collaboration skills; able to influence and coordinate without direct authority. ·
  1. Strong organizational skills with attention to details, schedules, matrices, documentation, standards tracking, and follow-up actions. ·
  1. Ability to balance strategic product thinking with hands-on execution, tactical problem solving, and disciplined follow-through. ·
  1. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools required; experience with project management, PLM, CRM, ERP, or requirements management tools preferred. ·
  1. Travel domestically as needed for customer meetings, partner discussions, industry events, internal alignment meetings, and product development reviews.
