About the opportunity

Engineering Automation & AI Developer

Position summary

The Engineering Automation & AI Developer builds the software that moves data between our design and analysis tools, automates repetitive modeling and documentation work, and lets engineers search the firm's own project knowledge with cited answers.

You will work directly with structural engineers, the BIM Manager and the Revit Technician, and report to the Studio Director. The goal of the role is to return engineers' time to analysis, design, and coordination and to prove that return with data.

Key responsibilities

Revit and analysis interoperability *

  1. Build and maintain Revit add-ins, Dynamo graphs and Python scripts that remove repeated modeling and data entry. *
  1. Develop and maintain data exchange between Revit and analysis software, including section mapping and round-trip comparison reports. *
  1. Evaluate existing links and vendor tools before building and record each build-or-buy decision.

Firm knowledge and AI *

  1. Build a private search assistant (retrieval-augmented generation) over firm documents on our cloud-based file server that cites its sources and respects folder permissions. *
  1. Prepare documents for indexing: text and table extraction, cleanup of scans, and edition tagging of standards. *
  1. Review answer quality with engineers and log and fix errors. *
  1. Run time-boxed pilots of emerging AI methods and write a go or no-go memo for each.

Quality checks and business systems *

  1. Develop automated checks of Revit models and drawing sets, starting with rule-based checks and later adding AI-assisted review that an engineer approves. *
  1. Build integrations and dashboards across Cosential, Ajera and Microsoft 365. *
  1. Support proposal development with search over past proposals and project experience.

Operations and adoption *

  1. Document and version-control every tool and work with pilot testers before each release. *
  1. Follow firm data-privacy rules: no client or project data goes into AI services the firm has not approved.

Required qualifications *

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience. *
  1. 3 or more years of professional software development, with Python and C# or .NET. *
  1. Experience integrating software through REST APIs and desktop application APIs. *
  1. Hands-on work with language-model APIs and retrieval-augmented generation: embeddings, vector search, document parsing and answer-quality evaluation. *
  1. Experience with Git and written technical documentation. *
  1. Ability to gather requirements from non-programmers and explain technical work in plain terms.

Preferred qualifications *

  1. Experience with the Revit API, Dynamo, or pyRevit. *
  1. Experience with CSI's programming interface for ETABS and SAP2000, or with RAM or Enercalc data. *
  1. Coursework or experience in civil or structural engineering, or time spent building tools for structural engineers. *
  1. Microsoft Power Platform experience: Power Automate, Forms, Lists and Power BI. *
  1. Experience with Cosential, Ajera or similar CRM and project-accounting systems. *
  1. Understanding of secure handling of client data.

Work arrangement and expectations *

  1. Location: West Palm Beach, with hybrid or remote work available.
