SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER – JAVA, SPRING BOOT & AZURE
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, cloud-native applications and services. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, the Spring ecosystem, Azure cloud services, databases, and event-driven architecture.
This engineer will contribute to the design of modern distributed systems, build secure and reliable APIs, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity. Depending on the project, some positions may also require Python and Databricks experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES *
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud. *
- Build and deploy cloud-native applications and serverless solutions using Azure Container Apps and/or Azure Functions. *
- Develop and integrate REST APIs and microservices to support scalable, distributed applications. *
- Design and optimize relational database solutions using SQL and PostgreSQL. *
- Work with NoSQL databases, including Azure Cosmos DB, to support application data requirements. *
- Develop event-driven applications and distributed messaging solutions using Apache Kafka and/or Azure Event Hubs. *
- Build and maintain automated build, test, and deployment pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions. *
- Apply software engineering best practices for code quality, testing, security, performance, and maintainability. *
- Use AI-assisted developer tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and code reviews. *
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable software solutions. *
- For select positions, develop Python-based applications and work with Databricks for data processing and analytics. *
- Mentor other engineers, participate in technical design discussions, and contribute to engineering standards.
SENIOR-LEVEL EXPECTATIONS
The Senior Software Engineer will be expected to: *
- Take ownership of complex technical assignments from design through deployment. *
- Make sound technical decisions and recommend scalable, maintainable solutions. *
- Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and production issues. *
- Promote engineering best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement. *
- Collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders. *
- Support and mentor other engineers while contributing directly to hands-on development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS *
- Strong professional experience in Java application development. *
- Hands-on experience with Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud. *
- Experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications using Azure Container Apps and/or Azure Functions. *
- Proficiency in SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL. *
- Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably Azure Cosmos DB. *
- Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka or Azure Event Hubs. *
- Proficiency with Git and GitHub, including GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation. *
- Experience developing, testing, and troubleshooting production applications and APIs. *
- Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tools and their practical application in software engineering. *
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS *
- Experience with Python and Databricks for applicable positions. *
- Experience designing and implementing microservices and distributed systems. *
- Knowledge of cloud security, application monitoring, logging, and performance optimization. *
- Experience with automated unit, integration, and API testing. *
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation and cloud deployment best practices. *
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance.
