About the opportunity

The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering site-based engineering activities in line with client processes and safety standards. The role involves managing work packages, supporting field execution, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with project, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Leiston, Suffolk, UK

Onsite Requirements: 5 days per week onsite which may increase during key

project phases. More flexible arrangements may be available during routine office-based periods.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Work within the client’s work management process
  2. Draft and obtain approval for Work Order Cards (WOCs)
  3. Manage and implement risk mitigation actions identified in the risk register
  4. Apply lessons learned from previous projects
  5. Identify and escalate issues to the Project Manager
  6. Manage Condition Reports and support the Corrective Action Programme
  7. Prepare documentation and work packs ahead of field activities
  8. Supervise field activities on site
  9. Review and approve subcontractor risk assessments and method statements
  10. Maintain Work Area Standards
  11. Support emergent issues and document updates
  12. Record lessons learned and raise observations in the client database
  13. Liaise with client departments as required
  14. Review spare parts usage and coordinate with the client’s Supply Chain team
  15. Author Category 3 Engineering Changes

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline
  2. 3–5 years of relevant industry experience
  3. HNC or HND in a relevant engineering discipline
  4. Demonstrable experience in a site-based project engineering role
  5. Experience managing subcontractors and enforcing health & safety standards
  6. Ability to obtain security clearance
  7. Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients
  9. Ability to independently plan, organise, and manage small work packages
  10. Experience using project management methodologies
  11. Experience ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, including CDM regulations
  12. SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification
  13. Experience working in regulated environments, preferably within power generation or nuclear sites
