The academic portion at the Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Friedrichshafen provides you with the theoretical foundations for the practical phases within the company, where you will gain direct insight into the work of an IT engineer. Theory and practice phases alternate regularly. In the IT Security specialization, unlike in classic computer science degree programs, programming does not play a major role. Instead, significant emphasis is placed on legal aspects. In addition to core computer science knowledge such as programming, digital technology, databases, and the fundamentals of software engineering, students examine current attack scenarios and learn to apply IT security techniques in the design of systems, networks, clouds, and data. In practice, as part of the team and depending on your progress in the program, you will take on project tasks, eventually leading up to your bachelor's thesis. You will be active in a responsible corporate environment and gain insights into project work, work processes, and the handling of engineering tasks.
