What You Will Do

  1. Provide technical advice and guidance for assigned electrical engineering projects.
  2. Assist Senior Engineer in developing Electrical Engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls and protection of the environment.
  3. Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects
  4. Manage small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects, and assists the Senior Engineer on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion or modifications
  5. Administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
  6. Develop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignment
  7. Assist the Senior Engineer in contributing to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas
  8. Develop and evaluate AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests
  9. May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams
  10. Perform other duties as required
  11. What You Bring To Freeport
  12. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR
  13. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering
  14. Knowledge of the principles and practices of Electrical Engineering with an understanding of Mechanical and Process Engineering techniques
  15. Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  16. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  17. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  18. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  19. Familiarity and some experience in Electronics, PLCs, and Control Systems
  20. Skill in managing small to medium Engineering projects
  21. Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification
  2. Experience with or classes related to Power Systems Engineering
  3. Experience with Power System Modeling software such as SKM, eTAP, etc.
  4. Familiarity with industrial AC and DC motors, VFD’s and plant instrumentation
  5. Familiarity with powerline layout, engineering and construction
  6. Familiarity with MV power systems
  7. Leadership and construction / mining experience
  8. Knowledge and understanding of NEC & NFPA70E Regulations
  9. Familiarity with designing Power, Instrumentation and Controls Systems
  10. Experience with ETAP and AutoCAD or similar software for design
  11. Self-motivated with excellent work ethic
  12. Proficiency in MS Office
  13. Understanding of project life cycle
  14. Experience in reading electrical drawing and P&Id
  15. What We Offer You
  16. The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000-$127,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
