Business Analyst, Commercial Insurance

The Property and Casualty Insurance Distribution Department, through our brokerage firm FQM Assurances inc., ensures the distribution of insurance products from the Fonds d’assurance des municipalités du Québec throughout the province. It offers municipalities and RCMs, as well as municipal boards and NPOs, comprehensive insurance solutions tailored to their needs (buildings, equipment, civil liability, events, etc.).
We are therefore looking for a Business Analyst, Commercial Insurance to play a key role in implementing a new SaaS solution for managing insurance operations. You will contribute to the various stages of the project, from needs analysis to solution implementation, while supporting users in adopting change.
Reporting to the Assistant General Manager – Insurance Operations, and as a Business Analyst, you will act as a bridge between business needs and the capabilities of the SaaS solution. Your role will be to understand user needs and identify the best solutions offered by the platform. Thanks to your creativity and understanding of business issues, you will make full use of the solution's features to effectively meet the organization's needs. Your close collaboration with the various teams will be crucial to ensure the success of this strategic project.
This position requires occasional office presence, depending on operational needs.
THE ROLE THAT AWAITS YOU
Collection and analysis of business needs
- Gather and analyze the needs of different stakeholders to fully understand their operational challenges and business objectives
- Translate business needs into functional solutions adapted to the capabilities of the SaaS platform
- Analyze current processes, understand their objectives, and identify opportunities for optimization and simplification
Analysis and optimization of solutions
- Analyze the gaps between business needs and the functionalities offered by the platform to identify the most suitable solutions
- Explore configuration options and native features of the solution to meet expressed needs and maximize the use of the platform
- Document recommendations and selected exceptions, justifying situations requiring a particular approach
Solution design and implementation
- Design business solutions aligned with operational needs by maximizing the use of the native features of the SaaS platform
- Challenge current processes and recommend approaches that meet business needs without unnecessarily complicating the solution
- Evaluate integration needs and identify the most suitable solutions by leveraging the connectors, API, and integration mechanisms already offered by the SaaS platform
- Collaborate closely with various stakeholders throughout the project, from design to solution implementation
Migration and data
- Participate in data migration activities, ensuring their quality, integrity, and compliance with the SaaS platform's data model
Testing and validation
- Develop and execute the required test scenarios to validate the solution's functionalities, business processes, and configurations
- Complete standard test cases with scenarios specific to the organization's needs and operational realities
Change management and training
- Adapt and use the training material provided by the SaaS solution vendor
- Participate in the preparation and delivery of training to different user groups
- Support users in finding solutions that meet their needs, focusing first on the functionalities and possibilities offered by the SaaS platform
Continuous improvement post-implementation
- Monitor new features and updates of the SaaS platform to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement of business processes

THE PROFILE WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 3 to 5 years of experience in business analysis in the property and casualty insurance sector, ideally in commercial insurance
- Excellent knowledge of business activities and processes in commercial insurance (underwriting, pricing, claims)
- Good knowledge of policy and claims management systems in commercial insurance
- Comfortable with data analysis and interpretation, and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Excel
- Demonstrate autonomy, curiosity, creativity, and excellent judgment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with various stakeholders
- Ability to simplify complex concepts and effectively translate business needs into concrete solutions
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
- Excellent command of French, both spoken and written
