Process Engineer

About the opportunity

Main Responsibilities The role of the Process Engineer within the plant is to receive new projects, adjust, improve, and deliver production lines that meet product and quality standards to manufacturing. The Process Engineer is also responsible for ensuring that production lines remain in optimal condition throughout the product lifecycle by driving continuous improvement initiatives and providing the necessary support to comply with internal and customer requirements. Main Objectives Define process parameters. Validate, through data analysis, that the defined parameters are reliable for product manufacturing. Design, improve, or modify production lines to ensure compliance with product design requirements. Define critical spare parts according to manufacturer specifications or process experience. Maintain and safeguard the mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical designs of the plant’s tools and equipment. Install new tooling within production lines. Deliver robust production tools that enable manufacturing according to customer specifications. Design new tools and/or improve existing ones. Engineering Change Management & APQP During program phases, comply with the applicable requirements of procedure SJI-P-DSS-7100 Advanced Quality Planning. Actively participate with the IPL in defining tooling and equipment (T&E) and the manufacturing process during the early phases of the PMS. Monitor prototype manufacturing activities. Update manufacturing routines. Capture lessons learned and provide best practices. Work with the IPL to develop the appropriate process flow diagram. Obtain support from technology experts or support functions when required. Define cycle times according to takt time and standard operations. Integrate ergonomic principles into product and process design. Approve process flow diagrams. Establish manufacturing routines. Release manufacturing process documentation. Follow up on production equipment construction. Ensure the release and installation of equipment within the plant. Lead the equipment acceptance process. Notify the IPL and the ME&P Manager of issues identified during T&E design, PT, MPT, and EMPT phases, and provide solutions to process-related concerns. Contribute to the engineering change process. Continuous Improvement Conduct productivity analyses of manufacturing processes. Implement improvement action plans. Coordinate with suppliers to implement necessary tooling improvements. Reduce scrap and downtime in production processes. Support continuous improvement initiatives. Production Support Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements described in manuals, process maps, procedures, work instructions, as well as applicable customer-specific, regulatory, and legal requirements. Comply with the Quality Policy, the 8 Quality Basics, and customer-specific requirements. In the event of detecting a product quality nonconformance, has the authority to stop the process or material flow and notify the Quality Department to define containment actions and control of nonconforming products with the responsible areas. Problem Solving Provide support for process troubleshooting and problem-solving. Support production with major adjustments that require restoration of original process parameters. Train operators and technicians on specialized technical aspects related to specific processes.
