Your responsibilities
As part of our international Digital Health Excellence Center, you will work with colleagues from various countries while being based at one of our German locations in Cologne, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt/Main, Hamburg, Munich, or Stuttgart. We implement both international projects and initiatives for German federal, state, and municipal administrations, designing modern, secure systems for millions of people.
The focus is on the digital transformation of the healthcare sector – from interoperable IT solutions to innovative digital health strategies. In this role, you will take on diverse tasks:
- Design and development of scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for the ingestion, transformation, and processing of large and complex data volumes
- Development and operation of orchestration workflows using Apache Airflow or Apache NiFi
- Support in building AI/ML/LLM pipelines through the preparation, structuring, and optimization of data for model usage
- Optimization of databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) with a focus on performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Ensuring data quality, data integrity, and reliability within production pipelines
Minimum requirements
Your skillset
- At least 5 years of experience in data engineering and building modern data platforms, including the development of AI/ML pipelines, data preparation, feature engineering, and LLM integrations.
- Solid knowledge of Python (especially pandas), SQL, ETL/ELT processes, workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow or NiFi), processing large data volumes, and in-depth database expertise in PostgreSQL or Oracle, including performance optimization.
- Practical experience in data governance, data protection, and GDPR-compliant data processing, as well as ideally knowledge of relevant healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, OMOP, and openEHR.
