What you will do in your day-to-day
We are looking for a Prompt Engineer to develop, experiment, evaluate, and evolve solutions based on Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). The position will involve hands-on work in building prompts, contexts, instructions, workflows, and interaction strategies with AI models, aiming to maximize the quality, consistency, security, and efficiency of responses. The professional will work closely with AI Engineering, Curation, Product, Data, and Business teams, transforming needs and use cases into LLMs-based solutions and contributing to the continuous evolution of AI applications. The focus will be on engineering and optimizing the interaction between applications and AI models, using experimentation, systematic evaluation, and Prompt Engineering and Context Engineering techniques.
Main responsibilities
- Develop and optimize prompts and instructions for LLMs for different use cases.
- Structure prompts considering context, persona, objective, constraints, output format, and quality criteria.
- Develop Prompt Engineering and Context Engineering strategies for Generative AI applications.
- Experiment with different models, parameters, and prompting strategies.
- Create and execute controlled experiments to evaluate different prompt versions.
- Develop few-shot, zero-shot, chain-of-thought alternatives, structured prompting, and decomposition strategies when applicable.
- Work with RAG, context definition, and information retrieval strategies to improve response quality.
- Develop instructions for applications using Function Calling, Tool Calling, and AI Agents.
- Structure prompts for generating structured and consistent responses, including JSON and other formats defined by the applications.
- Create and maintain reusable prompt libraries and standards.
- Work on defining criteria and datasets for evaluating the quality of prompts and LLMs-based applications.
- Perform quality, consistency, robustness, and model behavior tests.
- Identify issues such as hallucination, inconsistent responses, instruction failures, context problems, and unexpected behavior.
- Collaborate with Curation on defining and monitoring quality, security, and performance metrics.
- Analyze experiment results and propose improvements to prompts and interaction strategies with models.
- Document prompts, experiments, versions, results, and learnings.
- Stay updated on new capabilities of major models and incorporate new techniques into existing solutions.
- Support the definition and evolution of corporate Prompt Engineering standards and best practices.
What you need to know (technical requirements)
- Python applied to AI solutions;
- Generative AI, LLMs, and Prompt Engineering;
- RAG, embeddings, and vector databases;
- AI Agents and integration of LLMs via APIs;
- Experience with models/platforms such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or similar;
- Frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar;
- Knowledge in evaluation, benchmarking, and quality of LLMs solutions.
