What you will do in your day-to-day
We are looking for an AI Software Engineer focused on NLP to act in the development of Artificial Intelligence software and applications, from conception and architecture to deployment, operation, and evolution in production. The position will have a strong hands-on role in software engineering, building APIs, microservices, pipelines, and applications based on NLP and LLMs, integrated with corporate systems and platforms. The professional will be responsible for transforming NLP, Machine Learning, and Generative AI capabilities into robust, scalable, observable solutions prepared for production environments, considering aspects such as architecture, performance, latency, availability, security, cost, and scalability. The main focus will not be research or development of new models, but the engineering of AI applications, including model integration, software development, deployment, operation, observability, and continuous evolution of solutions.
Main responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evolve NLP and AI applications in production environments.
- Define and implement the technical architecture of applications based on NLP, LLMs, and Generative AI.
- Develop APIs, microservices, pipelines, and software components for AI applications.
- Implement natural language processing pipelines, inference, and integration with AI models.
- Integrate LLMs and NLP models into applications, APIs, databases, corporate systems, and external tools.
- Develop solutions using RAG, embeddings, semantic search, and vector databases.
- Implement and integrate Prompt Engineering, structured outputs, function calling, and tool calling when applicable.
- Perform deployment, configuration, update, and maintenance of AI applications and services.
- Develop solutions considering scalability, availability, performance, latency, and cost optimization.
- Implement caching mechanisms, asynchronous processing, queues, and inference optimization strategies when applicable.
- Implement unit, integration, functional, regression, and performance tests.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AI applications and components.
- Implement versioning practices for code, models, prompts, configurations, and AI artifacts.
- Monitor applications and services using metrics, logs, and traces, acting in problem identification and resolution.
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and incident analysis in production environments.
- Evaluate and optimize applications considering quality metrics, latency, throughput, availability, and cost.
- Implement mechanisms for evaluating and monitoring the quality of applications based on LLM/NLP.
- Participate in the technical definition and implementation of new NLP and AI use cases.
- Work together with Engineering, Architecture, Product, Data, UX, and business areas.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation for architectures, APIs, components, pipelines, and operational procedures.
What you need to know (technical requirements)
- Python and development of APIs/microservices with FastAPI or Flask;
- NLP, LLMs, and Generative AI;
- RAG, embeddings, semantic search, and Vector Databases;
- Prompt Engineering, Function/Tool Calling, and integration with LLMs APIs;
- Docker, Git, and software development and testing practices;
- Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD;
- SQL and data integration/processing;
- Knowledge in MLOps/LLMOps, observability, and AI application evaluation.
