At ALTEN Mexico, we value talent and are looking for a Senior Automation and Test Tool Development Engineer to join our team.
As a Senior Automation and Test Tool Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the Development and Maintenance of BDD-based test automation frameworks, as well as the management of the complete lifecycle of testing tools, including their integration into CI/CD pipelines, versioning, and compatibility with different versions of the software under test.
ACTIVITIES
Framework Architecture
- Design and maintain core BDD-based frameworks (e.g., Behave), ensuring modularity, reusability, and scalability.
- Develop and maintain a shared library of reusable Gherkin step definitions to avoid code duplication across different teams.
- Create libraries that support testing scenarios.
CI/CD Integration
- Develop and manage pipelines with GitHub Actions or JFrog to execute automated tests on PR creation, merges, or scheduled releases.
Release Management
- Oversee the versioning of the testing library to ensure compatibility between test suite versions and the application under test.
Mentorship
- Train other engineers on the use of the framework and tools.
Minimum requirements
- Professional Title and License in Computer Systems Engineering, Software Development, or a related field.
Testing Experience
- Proficiency in BDD and TDD.
- Experience extending Cucumber/Behave functionalities.
- Specialized knowledge in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) integration, including handling real-time constraints and signal processing in automated scripts.
Programming Experience
- Solid understanding of object-oriented principles.
- Experience managing Linux environments and shell scripting.
- Ability to optimize code and design clean architectural solutions.
Version Control
- Advanced proficiency in Git (interactive rebase, cherry-pick, hooks, and submodules).
- Experience in GitHub Enterprise (complex environments, OIDC secret management, and custom actions) to automate the testing software lifecycle.
Commitment to Sprint and Delivery
- Focus on Agile/Scrum methodologies with the ability to meet sprint objectives and deliver user stories on time.
- Familiarity with the “Three Amigos” approach.
Hardware Interaction
- Hands-on experience with HiL test benches.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
ALM and Testing Tools
- Experience with Jira, Jama, Test Rail, and Gherkin for BDD.
