BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPER (FOCUS ON DATA MODELING)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Power BI Backend Developer passionate about data, architecture, and performance, to support and evolve the foundations that underpin the organization's entire Business Intelligence ecosystem. In this role, you will be responsible for building and optimizing scalable data models, developing advanced DAX logic, ensuring data governance and quality, and resolving complex technical challenges related to the Power BI environment.

You will play a fundamental role in ensuring that the entire Power BI ecosystem operates with efficiency, scalability, and high quality, enabling business areas to make confident, data-driven decisions.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
DATA ARCHITECTURE AND BACKEND DEVELOPMENT
- Design, develop, and optimize data models in Power BI, ensuring efficient relationships, appropriate granularity, partitioning, and scalable structures.
- Create and maintain robust and reusable semantic models to serve multiple dashboards and business areas.
- Develop and administer large-scale corporate datasets.
- Implement best practices for governance, versioning, deployment, and workspace organization.
- Contribute to the evolution of the analytical architecture and best practices of the Power BI environment.
ADVANCED DAX AND BUSINESS LOGIC
- Develop complex DAX measures for advanced calculations, time intelligence (Time Intelligence), dynamic business rules, and corporate indicators.
- Implement advanced filtering logic and multi-level calculations.
- Diagnose and correct inconsistencies related to evaluation context, ambiguous relationships, and inadequate modeling.
- Ensure scalability and performance of implemented business rules.
PERFORMANCE AND OPTIMIZATION
- Conduct in-depth performance analyses on models and datasets.
- Optimize queries, DAX measures, and Calculation Group strategies.
- Evaluate Query Folding and identify improvement opportunities in transformation processes.
- Reduce model size by optimizing tables and data structures.
- Utilize tools like Performance Analyzer to investigate bottlenecks and improve user experience.
DATA INTEGRATION AND ETL
- Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to define appropriate data structures before ingestion into Power BI.
- Support integrations with various data sources, including:
- SQL databases
- APIs
- SharePoint
- Dataverse
- Azure services
- Structured files
- Third-party connectors
- Validate refresh pipelines, connections, credentials, and Incremental Refresh strategies.
- Ensure stability and efficiency in data ingestion and transformation flows.
DATA GOVERNANCE, SECURITY, AND QUALITY
- Administer security rules using Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Manage permissions and access in workspaces and datasets.
- Ensure data reliability, refresh success, and compliance with quality standards.
- Monitor environment usage, capacity, storage, processing costs, and overall dataset health.
- Support data governance initiatives and standardization of analytical solutions.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND PROBLEM RESOLUTION
- Investigate and resolve incidents related to:
- DAX errors and business rules
- Refresh failures and gateway issues
- Data quality inconsistencies
- Impacts on reports generated by backend logic
- Provide technical support to teams in interpreting data structures, metrics, and KPIs.
- Act as a technical reference for topics related to Power BI data architecture and modeling.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
HARD SKILLS
- Solid experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, especially in managing corporate datasets.
- Advanced knowledge in DAX, data modeling, performance analysis, and query optimization.
- Strong experience in dimensional modeling, including:
- Star Schema
- Fact and dimension tables
- Surrogate Keys
- Data granularity
- Consistent knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Experience in administering enterprise-level Power BI environments.
- Knowledge of governance, security, and best practices in BI architecture.

- Experience in corporate BI governance and architecture projects.
- Microsoft certifications related to Power BI, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering.
- Experience with CI/CD for analytical solutions.
