Principal Rotating Equipment Engineer

At Air Products, we reimagine what’s possible. By tapping into the motivation of our people and our collective experience, we create the ideas and innovations that drive us forward. When we come together – where every voice is heard and everyone knows they belong and matter – we create solutions that launch people into space, support lifesaving care in hospitals, and enable the construction of groundbreaking, world scale production facilities.

Reimagine What’s Possible

We are seeking a Rotating Equipment Engineer to join our Americas Operations Machinery team. This role supports troubleshooting, maintenance, performance improvement, and reliability of rotating equipment across Air Products’ U.S. operating facilities, with a primary focus on plants in the La Porte and Baytown, Texas area. The preferred working location is La Porte, TX, and we may also consider highly qualified candidates based near Houston, Port Arthur, or Beaumont, TX. Travel is required to support operations, with most travel consisting of daily driving to nearby plants or shops and overnight travel expected to be under 10%.

In this role, you will work with a wide variety of rotating machinery, including centrifugal, reciprocating, and screw compressors; steam and gas turbines; expanders; blowers; gearboxes; cooling towers; fin-fans; and pumps, including cryogenic pumps. You will support plants across Air Products’ Americas operations network, which includes air separation, hydrogen, HyCO, and helium facilities serving customers across multiple industries.

This is an opportunity to build deep, marketable expertise in rotating equipment reliability within complex industrial gas operations. You will gain exposure to equipment, systems, operating conditions, and failure modes that are difficult to find in a single-plant or single-technology environment. For engineers who enjoy troubleshooting, field support, root cause analysis, and practical problem-solving, this role offers meaningful technical development and visibility across a broad operating network.

Do you have a passion for safety, solving technical problems, and improving equipment reliability? If you are a mechanical engineer who enjoys working with operations and maintenance teams, analyzing machinery performance, and helping plants run safely and reliably, we invite you to grow with us as we continue to build a sustainable tomorrow together.
