We are currently searching for an experienced Roadway Engineer to support our Mid Atlantic Region located in Springfield or Virginia Beach, VA.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
What you’ll be doing
- 01Familiarity with calculating plans quantities and engineering estimates, developing construction specifications, and coordinating with subconsultants
- 02Leading or assisting in the development of project designs and directing Junior Engineers and designers to successfully execute and deliver project work, while implementing client focused strategies
- 03Applying established and well-defined engineering techniques, procedures, policies, or standards
- 04Prepares and modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs for projects
- 05Aspires to work in a team environment and is willing to participate in business development efforts and meetings with clients. Work as part of a team to deliver a range of transportation and civil design projects
- 06Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members
- 07Attends appropriate team meetings
- 08Adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results
- 09Identify and analyze problems using reasoning to arrive at conclusions
- 10Applies standard practices and techniques to accomplish work assignments
- 11Understands and adheres to assigned phase and task schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of project
- 12Adheres to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual
What you need to have
- 13BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
- 145 - 10 years relevant experience in roadway design
- 15Must have proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules and budgets
- 16VDOT experience is preferred but not required
- 17PE is preferred, FE is required
- 18Experienced in DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications
- 19Proficient with MicroStation, experience with OpenRoads Designer
- 20Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- 21Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
- 22Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
